SHERRI BETZ, PT, DPT, GCS, CEEAA, NCPT is a 1991 graduate of the Louisiana State University Medical Center's School of Physical Therapy and received her doctorate in physical therapy from Evidence in Motion Health Sciences Institute in 2017. Sherri actually began her movement career as a national gymnastics competitor and as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer for Nautilus Fitness Centers in the 1980's. Inspired by the work of a physical therapist in one of the clubs where she trained, Sherri pursued a degree in physical therapy. Her love of movement education has been integrated into her physical therapy practice at a rehabilitative level and at a fitness level. Utilization of Pilates, Yoga and Gyrotonic® with a specialty in the treatment of the pelvic girdle and manual therapy of the spine and pelvis are integral in her practice as a Physical Therapist.

I didn’t know anything about osteoporosis until my 83-year-old mother broke her hip a few days before Christmas in 2011. At that time, my sister did some online research about hip fractures and found a statistic from the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) that said almost a quarter of people who suffer a hip fracture die within the first year after the fracture. We were shocked!
I am a 58-year-old woman. Throughout my life, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my ovaries. I knew that they were essential for my fertility, yet at the same time they caused me constant pain. Last week, I received a medical diagnosis that made me question every medical decision surrounding my ovaries. Like some women, my body has had some complex health detours and to understand where I am today, some background is important.
